Group Info

A place where we can all fangirl/boy in the fandom of Keroro Gunsou safely without people claiming our self-inserted oc (otherwise known in this fandom as also a 'Kerosona') is a mary-sue/gary-stu. Many people assume that self insert OC's are automatic mary-sues/gary-stus, and this group is to help turn that stereotype around; it doesn't matter if it's a Keronian or Pekoponian or even someone new; if it's a Self-Insert and for the fandom of Keroro Gunso, then this is the group for you!

:bulletblack::bulletblack::bulletblack::bulletblack:Welcome to Keroro Self-Inserts!:bulletblack::bulletblack::bulletblack::bulletblack:

Please make sure you read the rules before you chose to join!

In any fandom you will find a multitude of OC's, fancharacters, or in especially in the Keroro Gunso fandom, Orikeros. It's nice to create a character that truly is your own; you get to create a whole new person so to speak. But what if that character is not so different from yourself?

That's where this group comes in; we are here to help with your SI (Self-Insert) characters. For those who really think about it, SIs are the true OCs; they are completely original and have flaws (that is, if the creator isn't shy enough or stubborn enough to show them). Just because your OC is a SI, it doesn't make them a Mary-Sue/ Gary-Stu, not if you are honest about your strengths and weaknesses, and put an honest effort to make them realistic.

And when it comes to the favorite characters of the creator, you can still pair your SI and a cannon together; that's not something that creates an automatic Mary-Sue either; as stated before, as long as the creator keeps everything realistic, and not OOC for the cannon characters involved (EX: Giroro would completely forget about Natsumi as soon as he sees SI #1, Tamama decideds he doesn't love Keroro after becoming infatuated with SI #2, etc etc). As with strengths and weaknesses, you have to keep it all realistic. If you want people to truly think your SI to be a great character, you have to be true and honest in personality, looks, and any shipping that might take place.

I think the best way to sum it up is from a direct quote about SI's vs. Mary-Sues from, saying that,

"Note that self-insertion isn't automatically bad. After all, there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a hero in your favorite show — provided that you remember to insert your flaws as well as your fantasies. After all, not everybody loves and adores you in real life, so they're not all going to love and adore you in a fanfic, either. Play it this way, and even if somebody does notice that you've just written an Author Avatar, they probably won't mind too much. Self-insertion, complete with flaws and realistic reactions from everyone involved, is just as good a way to make a new OC as any other. What was originally a self-insert can even adapt and evolve into a genuine Original Character."
